To calculate Equal Time Points (ETPs) and Extended-range Twin-engine Operations Performance Standards (ETOPs), first fill in the basic fight planning information at the top 1 .
For this article, we will be using Teterboro Airport (KTEB) and London Stansted Airport (EGSS) as transatlantic flight examples.
Then select the Plot button 2 to bring up the Route Map.
Select the Map Layer button 3 . Then under Flight Planning Layers select Airports 4 to view the airports on the map.
To select your ETPs and ETOPs, use the map to find the best airports based on your chosen route. You will see the airports labeled with a blue circle 5 which would St. Johns.
Another airport we will choose is Keflavik 6 .
Then Shannon 7 as another diversion airport.
After we find the airports, we would like to use we then select the ETPs/ETOPs tab 8 .
Here we will enter our Coast Out airport ICAOs 9 and Coast In airport ICAOs 10 . We do not need to select a Policy unless you know which one you would like to select.
It is preprogrammed to count for 3 different EP Policies for depressurization, loss of one engine, and a medical scenario.
For the ETOPs 11 you can use the same airports used for ETPs or choose different airports for your route. You can select the Plot ETOPs button 12 to view them on the map.
View the ETOPs plotted here then close the window when finished.
If you see this error 13 you may need to re-analyze your route. Select the Route tab 14 .
Then select the Re-analyze Route button 15 .
Then select the Calculate Plan button 16 .
From here you can scroll down to view your Flight Plan.
In the Flight Plan, you can view the ETOPs 17 and ETPs 18 that are calculated.
